Carmel-based Koola Logistics is not just growing—it’s thriving. Just over a year ago, the company announced plans to expand and hire hundreds of employees, a bold move supported by a $4.25 million conditional EDGE tax credit approved by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation in March 2023. Today, Koola is well on its way to hitting those benchmarks—without compromising its values of faith, family, fitness, and freight.
Since the initial announcement, Koola has grown from 27 employees in 2022 to 73 team members and counting, with a clear plan to increase headcount by 33% per year over the next three years. This measured and sustainable growth will keep them on track to meet their goal of hiring and retaining 250 employees by the end of 2026.
“Koola’s mission isn’t about being the biggest freight brokerage—it’s about building something meaningful and lasting,” said Steve Paliska, founder of Koola. “Our top priority is to protect and invest in the people we have in the room today. Growth is a byproduct of doing the right things with the right people.”
Koola’s $8.1 million expansion plan is well underway, including an active search for new real estate to accommodate their future vision. But it’s not just about square footage—it’s about smart, strategic internal development. Recent investments in talent and training include:
Koola recently launched its second Sales Team with the promotion of Jacob Clark to Branch Team Leader of Koola II. In this role, Jacob is responsible for the hiring, development, accountability, and growth of his dedicated team. This leadership model has proven highly effective, and we anticipate launching additional teams in the coming year. The program offers a unique opportunity for emerging leaders to operate within our main office while demonstrating their strengths and ability to lead.
Additionally, Rob Gomez has been promoted to Sales Team Leader to support the rapid growth of Koola I, and several team members have been elevated to Sales Group Leader roles as part of our continued focus on developing internal talent.
“Our momentum is strong, but we’re focused on intentional growth,” Rachel Rush, HR & Talent Acquisition Specialist at Koola added. “We’re building a workplace that fosters both personal and professional excellence.”
As Koola continues scaling, the company remains deeply committed to its core values and its people. With a steady trajectory and energized team, the next chapter promises even greater impact—for the company, the community, and Indiana’s job market.
